Lela Knox-Shanks, a local advocate for caregivers and author, served as one of the keynote speakers at 'Aging with Passion and Purpose: A Conference on Aging' Oct. 18-19 at UNO. Organized by the Department of Gerontology, the two-day conference attracted 200 attendees in the fields of nursing, social work and elder care, among others.

Enlighten.

The Lifelong Learning Initiative at the University of Nebraska at Omaha is dedicated to providing learning opportunities designed specifically for lifelong learners aged 50 years and better. Stimulating and varied classes and activities will help you to expand your views, challenge your mind and invite you to explore new ideas. There are no grades or tests, just a wide variety of courses and social events year round.

Our education programs will challenge and inform you. Our arts and creative programs will engage your creative soul. Our social events will allow you to share your unique life experiences with like-minded individuals. Our volunteer programs will help you to make a difference within your community.

Discover.

You are invited to discover the opportunities that UNO's Lifelong Learning initiative can bring. We offer classes for all interests, from writing, literature and history to theatre, music, movies and art. Why not commit yourself to learn something new? Pledge yourself to try something different and connect with the feeling that you have no limits.

Connect.

What better place to learn and expand your horizons than among a close community of old and new friends who take pleasure in sharing the joys of learning and discovering. Expert presenters will be your guide to a rich and comfortable learning experience.

Commit yourself to lifelong learning.
The most valuable asset you'll ever have is your mind and what you put into it.
